Hi! I am Tye Rhodes. And for a long time, I struggled with this question. I used to go to church when I was a little younger than I am now and I would hear people say ALL the time, he's going to grow up to be a great man of god or, he's going to grow up to be a good "servant" to the Lord. But I never knew what it meant. I haven't thought about this question in a while but as I was thinking about what I had to write about, for some reason this question came to me. Then the Lord gave me the idea that this is the topic that I was supposed to write about and make this our FIRST ever blog!

So when he reminded me of this question, I kinda knew the definition, but I still wanted to be sure. So I did what ALL teenagers do. I got on my trusty phone and googled it. Google's definition says, "a person believed to be pious in his or her faith tradition."

So, then I was pondering on that definition, and I realized that a Servant of God is WAY more than just being a follower of him! It can be as simple as taking out the trash before mom and dad tell you to. It can be going to bed at bedtime when you know you're supposed to. It could be doing the RIGHT thing even when nobody is watching. It could be reading your bible and doing your devotion. It could just be as simple as saying your prayers and talking to God.

What I am trying to get to is that just because you go to church, you read your bible, and you sing worship music. That doesn't mean you are a Servant of God. Just because you "Check all the boxes" doesn't make you a Servant of God. To be a Servant of God you have to make sure you are living your life the way God wants you to. If you wouldn't do the action or say the word that you are about to say/do. But if Jesus was standing right beside you, would you do it? Probably not. So if it's not right to do it in front of Jesus then don't do it all.

Because here is the thing, did you know that God is ALWAYS here? Even though you can't physically see him, I know he is there. Jesus sees EVERYTHING that you do, and he will know EVERYTHING that you have done if you have not asked for forgiveness. Our God is forgiving and we need to make sure we don't EVER take advantage of that. We as humans who do make mistakes are not worthy of his love but yet he STILL loves us no matter how many times we mess up. So the LEAST you could do in return is learn how to become a "Servant of God".
